Phenomenal progress in the development and proliferation of energy efficient technologies, an economic breakthrough in renewable energy production (solar, wind, geothermal, etc.), and changes to behavioural patterns in energy consumption have led to a sharp  slowdown in the growth of energy demand across much of the world and a rapid diversification of energy sources in favour of a transition to a low-carbon economy.

The Second International Conference “Risk Management in Energy – 2019” (the Conference) was held in the Intercontinental Istanbul Hotel, Istanbul (Turkey) with participation of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC). The Conference was organized by the Russian Institute for Energy and Finance in cooperation with the Regional (Turkey) working group of the British Institute of Risk Management (IRM).

Mr. Kopač, will make a presentation on the topic “Risks in the modern world of Energy Community and their governance” within the Plenary Session  on May 27, 2019.

Chairman of the Board of Managers of the Energy Management Institute (EMI), a member of the Board of Directors of EURELECTRIC Mr. Neykov will make a presentation at the 2nd International Conference "Risk Management in Energy - 2019".

Mr. Michael Christides, BSEC Secretary General will take part and make a presentation within the Plenary Session “Risks in the Modern World of Energy and Their Governance” on May 27, 2019.

Given a possibility of imposing additional sanctions against Russia by the European Union, the Russian side jointly with the Secretariat of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) is currently discussing an issue of transferring the Conference’s venue from Sofia (Bulgaria, EU member) to Istanbul (Turkey).


The organizers will inform on the BSEC Secretariat’s decision regarding the venue of the Conference as soon as possible.
