04.22.2019 // Mr. Janez Kopač, Director of Energy Community Secretariat will participate in the II International Conference “Risk Management in Energy – 2019” on 27-28 May 2019, Istanbul (Turkey)

Mr. Kopač, will make a presentation on the topic “Risks in the modern world of Energy Community and their governance” within the Plenary Session  on May 27, 2019.

 

Mr Janez Kopač heads the Energy Community Secretariat as Director since December 2012. The Energy Community is an international organisation which brings together the European Union and its neighbours to create an integrated pan-European energy market based on EU internal energy market rules and principles.

 

Before taking up this post, Mr Kopač was Slovenia’s Director General for Energy in the Ministry of Economy (2008-2012), where he was responsible for the implementation of the Third Energy Package and other energy acquis.He served as Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy (2000-2004) and Minister of Finance (1992), in addition to a ten-year career as Chairman of Budget Committee in the Slovenian Parliament.

 

Born in 1961, Slovenian citizen Janez Kopač holds a Master’s Degree in Economic Science from the University of Ljubljana. He is fluent in English, Serbian and Croatian and has a working knowledge of German.
