05.29.2015 // Anatoly Yanovsky called for enhancing the Russian-Chinese Energy cooperation at the International Conference in Moscow

Moscow, May 29. - Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Anatoly Yanovsky, spoke at the plenary session, "The contribution of Russia and China in the formation of sustainable regional energy cooperation" within the international conference "Russia and China: a new partnership in a changing world."

 

In his speech, Anatoly Yanovsky stressed the increasing role of the Asia-Pacific region and, first of all, China's expanding energy demand. In particular, over the last 15 years, natural gas consumption in Asia has increased by more than 4 times. According to experts 90% of the growth in global oil demand till 2035 will come from Asia, Asia-Pacific coal market will grow by 1.5 times.


According to Deputy Minister of Energy, Russia is a major partner of China in the energy sector and an active cooperation has been particularly developed in the recent years.
A part of ESPO pipeline to the port "Kozmino" has been put into operation, the construction of the gas pipeline "Power of Siberia" has been started.  Four high-voltage power lines as well as railroad crossings and terminals in the ports of the Pacific operates.


Anatoly Yanovsky said that the Chinese and Indian partners were interested to participate in the development of Russian fields, including the continental shelf.
Deputy Energy Minister stressed the successful implementation of intergovernmental agreements and the work of the Russia-China Energy dialogue.
Anatoly Yanovsky also urged not to oppose the Eastern and Western vectors of Russian energy policy. "Development of the cooperation with the Asia-Pacific region - is a strategic goal, which has appeared more than one or two years ago" - said the Deputy Minister.
